My Memoir

Right from childhood, the author has lived a life devoid of satisfaction. Dumb, stupid, good for nothing, failure among others, are some of the tags and labels many leveled against him. He had no confidence in himself and, to make matters worse, the vast majority didn’t see anything good in him.

Despite it all, his parents and his role model were the ones who believed in him regardless of the string of failures that faced him every step of the way with each dawning day. His role model took the trouble to always be there to encourage him and help him to self-reflect, rediscover himself and uncover his talents. This was none other than his paternal grandfather. Above all things, he was also his source of inspiration, encouragement, and hope.

Such were the circumstances that the writer had to put up with, though he lived with his immediate family who believed in him no matter what and rendered support to him at all costs, and the grandpa become instrumental in his life and the game-changer.

They worked hard, hand in hand, to keep him encouraged and overcome the frustrations of failure by instilling hope, self-confidence, courage in him and the desire to discover which kindle his strengths and work on his weaknesses.

He did not lack even a single textbook; his parents provided all that was needed to see him through his early education, even though he emerged at the bottom of his class. He vividly recalls the tears rolling down his mother’s cheeks for his lack of success through his entry exams for grade one.

She was dismayed, and fright overcame her over the future plight of her son.

Have you ever had grave concerns and self-defeating thoughts about yourself? Ever looked at yourself in the mirror and all that you saw was a dim, foolish, and an individual who is considered dumb? The author thought of himself far worse than these revelations.

He went to two schools in the nursery stage! He moved from one school to the other and even rewound 4th grade thrice in three different schools.

The strongest God-given pillar of mankind is that of family. His family embraced him even in the wake of such humiliating blows in life. And at the time of need, his blood and flesh did not disappoint him.

Often his dad would take him out to play, have a one-on-one pep talk, help him discover where his passion lay, and, above all, assured him that he would one day end up being very prosperous. He made sure he attended the best academies, provided him with all the books, and supported him in every way he deemed fit.

The Bahaidar family played a great role in transforming him into who he is today. They constantly reminded him that anyone is bound to fail if forced onto an issue or an area he doesn’t enjoy or value, the point that was being put across here, was an emphasis on him identifying his interest and passion. The moment he figured out his interests and his passion for life, it became a moment for celebration and marked the beginning of his breakthrough.

His grandfather, his hero and role model was a man who sacrificed everything just to put a smile on his face. Not even a single motivation story did he conceal from him. He encouraged him into sports, arose his ego until he realized how unique he was.

He acknowledged the support accorded to him, which by far was the greatest asset he had ever encountered to instill hope and chart the way forward. He felt more secure, even though he had a lot that was going on around him. He was more relaxed despite complicated and bewildering circumstances. Above all else, self-confidence and sound judgment cleared the way from obscure things that were ahead of him.

Such great mentorship brought him to the point of appreciating each and everything that was done on his behalf, his wife, and kids being the epitome of his happiness and true inspiration.

A discrete being from humble surroundings who struggles to get back on his feet after an encounter with the death of his grandfather at age 15 and the interpretation of what life would be like after that sudden demise with a deep sense of remorse and appreciation to be alive and give gratitude to God.

The loss of a dear grandfather can be such a stumbling block and present itself as a setback if you put too much thought into it. Experiencing the death of such a loved one can be very confusing and scary at the same time, which makes you raise questions about grief and death-related rituals.

Grief influenced his understanding and response to loss owing to the friendship they had nurtured and the rapport that had been built over the years. His hopes seem to have been dashed. His role model, advisor, and his most dependent mentor was no more. An infinite sea of loneliness engulfed him and an irreplaceable gap in his heart seems to have developed and was now becoming a vitiating element with no hope left to forge the way forward.

The greatest task was that of self-reflection on himself and to unleash the potential in him despite the grief weighing heavily on him. Fighting amongst the society with their establishment of a class order.

The author came to realize, the demeaning factor affecting us, and our society is the competition which we have amongst ourselves on who is rich or the brave ones to clinch the Nobel prize award. Who is smart enough to emerge the top student? Who is diligent and industrious to be crowned employee of the year?

These stratifications are created by our society to keep us in competition amongst ourselves. Yet we forget what happens to the vast majority who can’t attain the standards that we have an obsession about.

On one hand, struggles are rife through the grief which seemed to be getting the best of him and, in need of a quick fix solution, questions begin to linger in his mind. ‘Is there a chance for a better life, or is this the point of no return?’

After the many near misses, he had had throughout his life, at the age of 18 he profited immensely drawing deeply from self-help books with the help of Babu Ali Mandry that ignited a positive spirit within him that brought an understanding of the need to look at the brighter side of things.

The more he delved into the world of philosophy, psychology, and motivational stories, the more desire he had to cover more books, which made him have cognizance of the beauty that existed all around him.

It was the anecdote of Albert Einstein on his poor performance in early school, being told by his principal, ‘you will never go far with your studies’ that caught the author’s attention and made him realize that there was more to life than what we envision.

A unique journey contorted into resurgence that led him to explore, venture, and sample different phases of life. With keen analytical research on the potentials of humans and a prolific counselor who took it upon himself to understand human nature through his personal experience and the unfolding events of those around him.

He noticed the aptitude we the human race possess which can reshape our destinies, but not everyone is consistent with this fact. We have the potential to change through an intimate passion that fuels the motive to propel the law of attraction into motion.

It may come as a surprise to discover that Albert Einstein was a failure, but managed to transform into a genius with an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) of 160.

A man who featured prominently in our secondary education textbooks with his numerous relativity theories that earned him adulation and an honorary degree as well as a Nobel Prize in Physics and many other medal awards, which came his way, such as Franklin, Copley, Max Planck, Gold, Matteucci and Barnard awards.

What changed him is inquisitiveness that kept ringing in the author's mind! The more he delved deeper the more he discovered we have the latent potential of reshaping our destinies if we hold our missions dear to our hearts.

Whenever he peruses through biographies of profound individuals the more, he flashes back to his dim past. The author had a rather low and dim perception of himself and thoughts of himself being without talent permeated through his life and kept on reliving the memory of the primary school entry exam bitter experience.

Flashback runs through his thoughts the moment his class teacher ridiculed his English composition in class. Students could burst out in laughs at how low his ability in English was, which made him emerge at the bottom of the class.

This ignited the burning desire of wanting to be acquainted with the know-how in ways in which humans operate and what makes us transform in intellectual abilities and character.

A life of adventure was in the offering and soon began. Hunt for a job abroad was to follow. He took this opportunity to research, to understand human nature and their cultural beliefs. That made him appreciate the delicate subject of life itself.

A relentless interaction through one-on-one talks, interviews, radio Q&A sessions, surveys on societal living, and documentaries on life that he conducted in various countries locally and abroad. He also managed to touch base even with those with psychological hitches.

The heart to heart involvement enriched his life, comprehending there are many more with similar lesions in life and that people are desperately in need of dire help.

What he came to realize was that our thoughts have all along been deceiving us. Together with mounting peer pressure, which our society has cast on us on the inadequacies and inabilities. To survive the competition of success or even those wielding financial muscles are all set to wrestle those who question their ways. Such is how our dreams get destroyed we then lack the drive to move on.

At what point do we feel a turning point in our life? A point when you feel you’ve done all that is needed yet nothing seems to work out towards our good? As humans, do we feel sometimes that what we are left with is just one step to extinction?

How do we get to that point where all we wish for is death? All alone on a cliff, where you contemplate, “Should I do it or not?” We look back and all that we see is the past that bedeviled us, peer pressure, responsibilities that choke us, and misery killing all the hopes of a better brighter future dashed away.

At this juncture, the author feels the need to reinvent, the instances where the storms blow from every direction; financial puffs, bankruptcy, divorce, or even death. All this leaves us puzzled, not knowing what to do and help is nowhere to be found.

After a long fruitful journey of exposure, he finds himself amid a chaotic society which brings him to assume leadership.

A problem-solver, he becomes through counseling in the course of embracing life coaching techniques. A specific mission of extolling virtuous acts to discover oneself and the potential we have which has nothing to do with education.

The lessons which he edifies are those of Thomas A. Edison, a self-made genius, and a master of invention with 1093 patents. With minimal schooling of 3 – 6 months, he managed to transform his abilities which made the world bow to his rare invention of the electric bulb.

We cannot appreciate enough his inventive works. If it were not for him, we would still be using other ways of illuminating. A profoundly unique individual who started from nowhere and went on to attain exclusive awards from Technical Grammy Award, Rumford prize, and Distinguished Service Medal.

The author peered into the future and saw the only road to success was through rediscovering himself by understanding his potential. A good orator as he set himself about with limited knowledge. Speech is blunt if it is not packed with sound bites with creative and impressive ideas.

A question that lingered in his mind brought about the eagerness to find solutions through knowledge. Within 14 years, he managed to cover over 2,000 books and dealt with almost 10,000 personal as well as family issues. That was not the end of the road, but brought the need to comprehend why most businesses fail and what dilemmas we face as humans.

He saw himself as a convincing communicator who lacked the knowledge to advise people on the different circumstances and many life issues. This set-in motion the need for him to complete his Ph.D. specifically a Doctor of Philosophy in management with self-study in philosophy of life and the psychological effect impacting our surroundings.

Who would have imagined that such a person would one day manage to complete his pursuit of knowledge up to a Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D. level with a bias in management and self-research on behavioral psychology alongside guidance and counseling?!

Today he helps millions of individuals. He rose to become a Liaison (student president) of his university and he is well established within the business circles and imparts management skills to the rookies and new beginners in business.

He was once supposedly considered a failure, but today he has acquired and been crowned with a new title, “Professor”, due to his life-transforming talks, sharing wise counsel, and being bold enough to lead the way in many aspects touching on life.

A celebrated motivational speaker and an author of 10 books and still counting: “The Hidden Self”, “The Point of Deflection”, “A Household of Bliss”, "The Sparkling Hope”, “Mirror Reflection”, “Trailing the Scent of Sex”, “The Anonymous Trek”, “My Dash of Existence, ’ Millionaire’s Quest,” and ”The Living Silhouette".

All directed towards the guidance of mankind to live a more fulfilling life and leave this world a better place than we found it.

Having visualized his breakthrough, two things propelled him in the right direction to become who he is today; self-reflection which accorded him the right self-image and self-confidence.

Bahaidar believes that as you read this book, you will rediscover your true self and self-worth and rise above all the mediocrity, pain, and frustrations which, if you succumb to, will almost ruin the chances of becoming what God rightfully destined for you.
